Have you ever flown in any kind of aircraft other than a commercial airliner?

Comment: This result was not terribly surprising, but we expected the affirmative response to be even smaller than shown. It would be interesting to know how many of those who answered yes truly have flown at supersonic speeds or were merely confused by the speed indicators present on many commercial airliners. Comment: This poll is the first in a series of questions we are asking to learn more about the interests and experiences of our visitors. While some are primarily subjects of general interest, others will help us better tailor our site to the needs of our regular readers.

Comment: In October 2002, we had asked the opposite question about what how readers felt when the F-22 was re-designated as the F/A-22. It is interesting to note that only one in three voters agreed with the decision at that time while four out of five now feel the F-22 is a superior designation. Comment: When this poll began, the two Russian fighters jumped out to an impressive lead only to be overwhelmed by the SR-71 as voting continued. The Blackbird certainly maintains a loyal following after all these years, and nothing that we know of can match its amazing capabilities.

Comment: Unfortunately, we are forced to agree with the majority. Nuclear technology has become so profuse and is so poorly monitored in some parts of the world that it is becoming increasingly difficult to control. We can only hope that steps will be taken to prevent these deadly devices from falling into the hands of terrorists who have nothing to lose in using them. Comment: There is certainly no clear decision in this result as the two sides appear to be blamed fairly equally.
