Biography: Justine Whitman is a retired astronomer who spent most of her career studying the
characteristics of binary star systems as well as planets and other bodies within our local solar system.
She worked closely with physicists, geologists, engineers, and other researchers to take advantage of
advancements in telescope technology and improve observations of stars, planets, and other distant
objects. Justine is now a part-time astronomy teacher who enjoys amateur stargazing with her husband, two
children, and three grandchildren.
Professional Interests: Interferometry, radio telescopes, spectroscopy, planetary geology, computer programming. Personal Interests: Amateur astronomy, history, geology, photography, painting, religious studies.
